Dodgers' Brusdar Graterol Undergoes Shoulder Surgery
Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitcher Brusdar Graterol has undergone shoulder surgery and will miss the 2023 season.
Graterol, 24, had been dealing with shoulder discomfort since last season. He underwent an MRI exam in November that revealed a torn labrum.
Graterol had surgery to repair the labrum on Tuesday. He is expected to make a full recovery, but he will miss the entire 2023 season.
The Dodgers acquired Graterol from the Minnesota Twins in a trade in February 2020. He has pitched in 42 games for the Dodgers, with a 3.17 ERA and 10.1 strikeouts per nine innings.
The loss of Graterol is a blow to the Dodgers' bullpen. He is one of the team's top relievers and was expected to be a key part of the team's rotation this season.
The Dodgers will now have to look to other relievers to fill Graterol's spot. Some of the candidates include Daniel Hudson, Jake McGee, and Phil Bickford.
